Round 1. Design Star: Next Gen: Remaking the Ugliest Rooms in America 21 Photos. In the inaugural challenge, the eight designers are tasked with redesigning individual "design labs" (aka "the ugliest rooms in America"). 2. Nov. 2020 · Rob Pryce. HGTV is on the lookout for America’s next home renovation superstar with the production of Design Star: Next Gen, a new high-stakes competition series inspired by HGTV Design Star — the most successful and highest-rated franchise in the network’s history.
The designers are given a specified amount of time and cash to create their designs, sometimes working alone and sometimes in teams. The series was cancelled after eight seasons. On November 2, 2020, it was announced that a spin-off titled Design Star: Next Gen will premiere in 2021.
3. Feb. 2021 · Design Star: Next Gen, the new high-stakes, edge-of-your-seat competition series inspired by HGTV Design Star, is ready for air and, with $50,000 cash and a shot at their own show on the line, one breakout renovation and design expert’s life is about to go supernova.
