Die Band The Doors wurde im Sommer 1965 von Jim Morrison und Ray Manzarek am Strand von Venice Beach ( Kalifornien) gegründet. Der Bandname entstand in Anlehnung an den Essay von Aldous Huxley The Doors of Perception ( Die Pforten der Wahrnehmung).
