Theodore Thomson Flynn (* 11. Oktober 1883 in Coraki; † 23. Oktober 1968 in Liss (Hampshire), Vereinigtes Königreich) war ein australischer Zoologe und Meeresbiologe .
Theodore Thomson Flynn MBE FLS FZS FRS MRIA (11 October 1883 – 23 October 1968) was an Australian zoologist and marine biologist and a professor in both Tasmania and the United Kingdom. He was the father of the actor Errol Flynn.
Flynn’s Antarctic connection is commemorated in the name of Flynn Lake on the west coast of Macquarie Island. He developed a considerable interest in marine science, and became a strong advocate for science-based development of fisheries in Tasmania and at the national level.
20. Okt. 1993 · Zoologist. Summary. Theodore Flynn was appointed the first lecturer in biology at the University of Tasmania (1909) and from 1911 was Professor of Biology. Although his early interest was marsupials, he later developed an interest in marine biology.

He was very industrious but also gregarious and friendly, enjoying dancing and tennis, as well as his academic interests.
In April 1909, Theodore Thomson Flynn arrived in Tasmania to become the first lecturer in the newly established department in biology at the University of Tasmania. The University itself was then nineteen years old, having been established in June 1890.
Dr Theodore Thompson Flynn, father of the late Australian actor Errol Flynn, died at the Hillbrow Nursing Home, Liss, Hampshire, on Wednesday, aged 85. Dr Flynn was Professor of Zoology at Queen's University, Belfast, for 17 years. He retired in 1948."
