In 1977 and 1979, Alex Chilton, attracted by The Cramps' feral, flamboyant rockabilly style, had brought them to Memphis to record sessions he produced that were later released as Gravest Hits and Songs the Lord Taught Us.
In 1978, Alex Chilton teamed up with Falco after being impressed by Falco's performance of the song "Bourgeois Blues" at The Orpheum Theatre in Memphis, which culminated in the chainsawing of an electric guitar. The two founded the self-styled "art damage" rock and roll band Tav Falco's Panther Burns in 1979.
Alex Chilton war ein US-amerikanischer Songwriter, Gitarrist, Sänger und Produzent. Er wurde vor allem als Mitglied der Bands The Box Tops und Big Star bekannt.
Davon inspiriert, gründete Falco mit Alex Chilton und James Luther Dickinson seine erste Band Tav Falco's Panther Burns, bekannter unter der Kurzbezeichnung Panther Burns. 1981 nahm Tav sein erstes Album Behind the Magnolia Curtain auf, das gute Kritiken bekam.
