Gibb completed recording for Robin's Reign on 10 October 1969, when he recorded "August October", "Gone Gone Gone" and "Lord Bless All" (10 October was also the day when the Bee Gees recorded "The Chance of Love" for their LP Cucumber Castle.)

Robin Gibbs Soloalbum „Robin’s Reign“ erschien schließlich Ende Februar. Von den Bee Gees wurde im März noch die Single „I.O.I.O.“ nachgeschoben und »Cucumber Castle« schließlich im Mai veröffentlicht. Die Songs des Albums wurden größtenteils 1969 komponiert, „Turning Tide“ und „I.O.I.O.“ bereits 1968.
Robin’s first solo album was released in 1970, the same year that Barry and Maurice released Cucumber Castle. Both albums came out in the year that the Bee Gees had broken up. Robin’s Reign included the masterpiece “Saved By The Bell”, which would go to #2 on the UK singles chart.
15. Apr. 2020 · With Robin having quit acrimoniously following Odessa and drummer Colin Peterson ousted not long after, in a matter of months the Bee Gees had gone from a five-piece (including guitarist Vince Melouney), to a four-piece, to a three-piece, to finally, just Barry and Maurice.
Cucumber Castle (1970) is the only Bee Gees record to not feature Robin Gibb, who, at the time, was working on a solo album. The name “Cucumber Castle” should be familiar to Bee Gees’ fans: it’s also the title of a song on Bee Gees 1st and the name of their 1970 television special.
Barry and Maurice Gibb went on to record the album Cucumber Castle, which spawned the number 2 hit 'Don't Forget To Remember'. Robin went on to release his first solo album, called Robin's Reign. OK, the cover is awful. But was the music inside the album actually good? Yes and no.
