I was introduced to Duane, and Duane said, “Man, I sure dig your stuff! Boy, and I sure would love to play on your record if it’s okay.” I said, “Sure, I guess so.” I had never heard him play before, but these guys worshipped him. As soon as Duane gave me the okay, the session went fantastic. The album is Southern Fried.

Howard Duane Allman (* 20. November 1946 in Nashville, Tennessee; † 29. Oktober 1971 in Macon, Georgia) war ein US-amerikanischer Rock- und Blues - Gitarrist. Er gilt als Slide-Gitarren -Legende und einer der besten Rock- und Blues-Gitarristen.
Duane Allman and John Hammond first met in Muscle Shoals, Alabama, in the spring of 1969, after John came there to record his Southern Fried album with the renowned Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section. It is beautifully recorded (an AF gold CD would be perfect), passionately executed and all in all deserves to be widely available, which is not the case.
