6. Feb. 2012 · Nicolaus (II) Bernoulli was the favourite of three sons of Johann Bernoulli. He made important mathematical contributions to the problem of trajectories while working on the mathematical arguments behind the dispute between Newton and Leibniz.
Nicolaus II Bernoulli (also spelled as Niklaus or Nikolaus; 6 February 1695 in Basel – 31 July 1726 in Saint Petersburg) was a Swiss mathematician as were his father Johann Bernoulli and one of his brothers, Daniel Bernoulli. He was one of the many prominent mathematicians in the Bernoulli family.

8. Feb. 2023 · Um den Kriegswirren des Dreißigjährigen Kriegs (1618–1648) zu entgehen, zog Nikolaus’ Sohn Jakob in die Schweiz nach Basel um, wo er 1622 das Bürgerrecht erhielt. Wiederum dessen Sohn Nikolaus (1623–1708) wurde der Stammvater der Basler Linie.
