Jimmy Dorsey. James Francis Dorsey (February 29, 1904 – June 12, 1957) was an American jazz clarinetist, saxophonist, composer and big band leader. He recorded and composed the jazz and pop standards " I'm Glad There Is You (In This World of Ordinary People)" and "It's The Dreamer In Me".
The final volume of our series on the Dorsey Brothers' early recordings, this compilation includes Jimmy Dorsey's solo recordings made in London in 1930, as well as rare sides by the Dorsey Brothers' Orchestra from 1934. Featured musicians, aside from the Dorseys, include Bunny Berigan and Glenn Miller.

Tommy und Jimmy Dorsey. Die beiden Brüder Tommy und Jimmy Dorsey gründeten 1934 das "Dorsey Brothers Orchestra" und wurden rasch überaus populär; bis 1935 brachten sie es auf rund 25 Hits und ihr Orchester gehörte zu den ganz großen Tanzbands jener Swing-Ära. Beide wurden in Shenandoah (Pennsylvania) geboren, Jimmy am 29.
Jimmy’s musical training began when he was a young boy in Pennsylvania. Along with his brother Tommy, the talented young musicians joined Paul Whiteman’s Orchestra and at the same time they were recording many records under the billing “The Dorsey Brothers Orchestra”. Their band continued through the early thirties until a dispute over a tempo of a song separated the brothers for decades.
