Solo Piano is an album by jazz pianist Tommy Flanagan. It was recorded in 1974 and released in 2005 by Storyville Records . Background and recording. Prior to the release of Solo Piano, the 1977 album Alone Too Long had been believed to be Flanagan's first solo piano recording. [2] .
Soon after leaving Fitzgerald, Flanagan played solo piano in New York. In 1979, he was a guest on the first series of Marian McPartland 's Piano Jazz radio programs. [37] He continued to work with other players, including as a trio with Tal Farlow and Red Mitchell in 1980. [38]

Previously unissued solo sessions recorded in Zurich, Switzerland on February 25 & 26, 1974 and first released in 2005. According to allmusic (.com), Tommy Flanagan only appears on tracks 1-10, the identity of the pianist on tracks 11 to 20 is unknown, though he or she shows some Art Tatum-influenced chops at times (and it obviously isn't Tatum).
