Sludgeworth is an American punk rock band from Chicago consisting of Dan Schafer (vocals), Adam White (guitar), Dave McClean (guitar), Mike Hootenstrat (bass), and Brian Vermin (drums).
Brian Vermin (born Brian McQuaid) is a former punk rock drummer, best known for his time in Screeching Weasel and Sludgeworth. He joined Screeching Weasel in late 1988 at age 16, replacing original drummer Steve Cheese, when the band started its first serious touring.
The band started out as a side-project for vocalist Dan Schafer and drummer Brian Vermin, who, at the time, also made up the rhythm section of Screeching Weasel, but became a full-time endeavor after Vermin and Schafer quit Screeching Weasel. Sludgeworth's songs varied from pop-punk to funk rock.
Screeching Weasel revisits the Brian Vermin years. After some fairly hefty gaps between activity, Screeching Weasel has been busy lately, releasing the live document Live 88 and a great record of brand new songs Some Freaks of Atavism .
All of the band's members agreed to reform, with the exceptions of Brian Vermin and Douglas Ward. To replace Vermin, drummer Dan Panic (Dan Sullivan) was brought in. Before recording their third studio album, My Brain Hurts (1991) for Lookout!
Suburban Vermin digital compilation (Monona Records, 2020) Compilation of all tracks recorded with drummer Brian Vermin, recorded in 1989 and 1990. Suburban Vermin was one of choices considered when the band was dropping the "All Night Garage Sale" moniker.
