Jiggs and Maggie in Society is a 1947 American comedy film directed by Edward F. Cline and starring Joe Yule, Renie Riano and Tim Ryan. The film is part of the Jiggs and Maggie series, the first sequel to the 1946 film Bringing Up Father.
Bringing Up Father is an American comic strip created by cartoonist George McManus. Distributed by King Features Syndicate, it ran for 87 years, from January 2, 1913, to May 28, 2000. The strip was later titled Jiggs and Maggie (or Maggie and Jiggs ), after its two main characters.
Maggie (Renie Riano) continues her forever-ever efforts to crash Manhattan's top society, while Jiggs (Joe Yule) still mingles with his old construction cronies at the bar of Dinty Moore (Tim Ryan) on 10th Avenue.
Jiggs and Maggie are the major characters in a series of films made by the American studio Monogram Pictures between 1946 and 1950. Jiggs and Maggie are Irish immigrants to the United States, who constantly argue.
Maggie is about to tear into Millicent when Van de Graft convinces her to be kind to the woman because she can help her rise in society. Maggie hides her disgust and accepts an invitation from Millicent to a soiree at her house.
