Let's Start a Beat – Live from Cavestomp is a live album released by The Monks. It was recorded in 1999, 33 years after their only album Black Monk Time was released, and at their first-ever gig on home turf. Cavestomp was an annual event in New York City that reunited mid-sixties bands for a weekend of live music.

November 1999 für einen Auftritt auf dem Cavestomp-Festival in New York das erste Mal wieder zusammen; es war zugleich ihr erster Auftritt in den Vereinigten Staaten überhaupt. Eine CD mit der Liveaufnahme dieses Konzerts wurde 2002 unter dem Titel Let’s Start a Beat veröffentlicht.

On October 31, 2000, tapes of the concert were released on the live album Let's Start a Beat – Live from Cavestomp. The original Monks line-up performed together for the last time at the Rockaround event in Las Vegas, in 2004. Later in the year, Johnston died in November after a lengthy battle with lung cancer.
