Beulah Robertson. Margaret Ross. The Cookies were an American R&B girl group active in two distinct lineups, the first from 1954 to 1958 which later became The Raelettes, and the second from 1961 to 1967. Several of the members of both lineups were members of the same family.
The Cookies started out as a backup vocal trio in 1954, Brooklyn, New-York with Doretta (Dorothy) Jones, Ethel Darlene McCrea, and Beulah Robertson. In 1956 Beulah was replaced by Margie Hendrix. The original members were Dorothy Jones, Ethel (“Darlene”) McCrea and Beulah Robertson, Jones’ cousin. But according to another source, Pat Lyles (who was to be one of the Raelettes) was also an original Cookie; other sources never mention her as such. For now, most sources state that Lyles was a Raelette but never a Cookie.
