Leonard Donald Stanley "Chip" Hawkes (born 2 November 1945) is an English musician. He is best known for being a member of the Tremeloes and for being the father of Chesney Hawkes.
Poole and Howard were both replaced by bassist-singer Len "Chip" Hawkes. Their first single as a four-piece, released on Decca, was a cover of Paul Simon's song "Blessed", which failed to chart.
Nach dem Weggang von Brian Poole kam Chip Hawkes als neuer Sänger dazu und die Gruppe machte unter dem Namen „The Tremeloes“ weiter. Mit einem nicht mehr so rockigen, dafür etwas melodiöseren Stil konnte sie dabei sofort an ihre frühen Erfolge anknüpfen.

In late 1965, Chip Hawkes joined “Brian Poole & The Tremeloes.”. This lineup lasted for about a year before Brian Poole pursued a solo career, leading to the band’s split. However, The Tremeloes endured, featuring Len “Chip” Hawkes, Dave Munden, Alan Blackely, and Rick Westwood.
