In 1976, he formed a progressive bluegrass band called Boone Creek. This band included the members of Vince Gill and Jerry Douglas. Skaggs was also a member of Emmylou Harris’ Hot Band, even writing musical arrangements for her 1980 bluegrass album, Roses in the Snow.
