It is our pleasure to introduce you to Bishop Douglass, the leading co-educational 11-18 Catholic school in London. We are a comprehensive school located in East Finchley, focused on achieving the very best for our young people whatever their academic starting point.
Bishop Douglass Catholic School is a Roman Catholic co-educational secondary school and sixth form, situated in East Finchley area of the London Borough of Barnet, England. Its current Headmaster is Martin Tissot, a former pupil at the school.
At Bishop Douglass School we provide a broad, balanced and diverse curriculum within the framework of the National Curriculum. We place extra emphasis on developing literacy and numeracy skills and extra time is devoted to these in Key Stages 3 and 4.
The school was founded in 1923 by Bishop James J. Hartley as a high school and college seminary for the education of Catholic priests for the service of the Diocese of Columbus. The high schools in the Diocese of Columbus are different than what you might find in other Catholic school systems. Ten of the 11 high schools are Diocesean owned and operated. One – St. Charles Preparatory – began as the Diocesan seminary and remains all-male.
The Most Reverend Earl K. Fernandes was ordained and installed as the 13th Bishop of the Diocese of Columbus on May 31, 2022. He was serving as pastor of St. Ignatius of Loyola Church in Cincinnati, Ohio from 2019 until his ordination and installation.
