The drummer for the tour was Nick Dew who, under the name Nicholas Chatterton-Dew, had played with Be-Bop Deluxe in the early days. The sax player was Ian Nelson, who died two years later in 2006.
Geschichte. Be-Bop Deluxe wurde 1972 vom Gitarristen Bill Nelson in Wakefield, West Yorkshire, gegründet. Die weiteren Gründungsmitglieder waren Gitarrist Ian Parkin, Bassist und Sänger Robert Bryan und Schlagzeuger Nicholas Chatterton-Dew. 1974 erschien ihr Album Axe Victim, dessen Stil mit David Bowies Glam Rock verglichen wurde.
6. März 2022 · Soon after, he reconnected with Parkin in Flagship, which evolved into Be-Bop Deluxe with bassist Robert Bryan, drummer Nicholas Chatterton-Dew, and keyboardist Richard Brown. Chatterton-Dew came from the Holyground act Jumble Lane.
The founding lineup consisted of Nelson, guitarist Ian Parkin, bassist and vocalist Robert Bryan, drummer Nicholas Chatterton-Dew, and keyboardist Richard Brown (who left in December of that year). They started off playing the West Yorkshire pub scene, with one regular venue being the Staging Post in Whinmoor, Leeds.
Tapes of this collector's item were played by the pioneering disc jockey John Peel on his legendary BBC Radio programme, Top Gear. The line-up of Nelson, Nicholas Chatterton-Dew (drums), Robert Bryan (bass, vocals) and Ian Parkin (d. July 1995; guitar) recorded Axe Victim as BE-BOP DELUXE.
