Roman Sebrle played football for thirteen years before turning to athletics. An all-around athlete, he soon achieved success in the decathlon. First ever to break the 9000-point barrier. At the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney, Sebrle came agonizingly close to winning the gold medal.
