Sylvester Croom Jr. (born September 25, 1954) is an American former football player and coach. He was the head coach at Mississippi State University from 2004 to 2008, and the first African American head football coach in the Southeastern Conference.
Sylvester Croom was the first African American head coach in SEC history at Mississippi State from 2004 to 2008. He also coached in the NFL and college football as a running backs coach and offensive coordinator.

Dez. 2022 · LAS VEGAS (AP) — Sylvester Croom had a Hall of Fame career as an offensive lineman at Alabama, and was among the first Black players to become a star and team leader under coach Bear Bryant. Three decades later, Croom became the Southeastern Conference’s first Black head football coach with Mississippi State.
