Miki Minoru (jap. 三木 稔; * 16. März 1930 in der Präfektur Tokushima; † 8. Dezember 2011 in Tokio) war ein japanischer Komponist.
Minoru Miki (Japanese: 三木 稔, 16 March 1930 – 8 December 2011) was a Japanese composer and Artistic director. He was known for promoting Japanese, Chinese and Korean traditional instruments as well as some of their performers.
Minoru MIKI was born in Tokushima, Japan in 1930 and graduated from Tokyo National University of Music a composition major. Miki’s largest lifework is “Minoru Miki, nine opera series along 1600 years Japanese history”. In 1975, he wrote his first opera Shunkin-Sho and won the Giraud Opera Prize.
Minoru Miki erhielt im Jahre 1991 den Kulturpreis der Präfektur Tokushima sowie zweimal (1994 und 2000) hohe Auszeichnungen des japanischen Staats. Und 2009 wurde Miki beim 20th Fukuoka Asian Cultural Prize als erster japanischer Künstler mit dem hochangesehenen Artistic-Cultural Award ausgezeichnet.
In 1969, the year following premiere of Time for Marimba, the Nihon Columbia Record Company commissioned Minoru Miki to compose a Concerto for Marimba and Orchestra. Miki started the composition in March, and completed the piece on July 21 st of same year.
