Ecstasy of the Angels (天使の恍惚, Tenshi no kōkotsu) is a later, more political, pink film directed by Kōji Wakamatsu . Plot summary. The movie focuses on the actions of a revolutionary movement. One faction, with a leader called October, breaks into a US weapons depot and takes cases of hand bombs.

Ecstasy of the Angels is the first film Wakamatsu made in co-operation with the Art Theatre Guild Japan (ATG). The police station in the Shinjuku district of Tokyo, which is blasted by a bomb in the film, later became the real target of the so-called Christmas tree bombing on Christmas Eve.
