Trama. Andrea è un giovane poliziotto entrato da due anni in polizia. Un giorno sul treno che lo porta alla Questura di Torino incontra un collega, Lorenzo Ferri detto "Lazzaro", un poliziotto dai metodi poco ortodossi ma di buon cuore, ed è presto amicizia tra i due.

Polizist Lorenzo „Lazzaro“ Ferri ermittelt couragiert auf eigene Faust in einem Drogenfall mit Todesfolge. Im Zuge seiner Ermittlungen erschießt er in einer nicht genehmigten Aktion zwei Menschen, woraufhin er zurück in die Zentrale nach Turin strafversetzt wird.
Ispirato a un fatto accaduto nel 1976 il film, ambientato a Torino, racconta di un poliziotto incaricato di sorvegliare un pericoloso criminale che riuscirà a sfuggire al suo controllo spingendolo al suicidio. Base dimostra che anche in Italia è possibile coniugare drammaticità e senso dell'azione.
