Benjamin Louis Cardin (born October 5, 1943) is an American lawyer and politician serving as the senior United States senator from Maryland, a seat he has held since 2007. A member of the Democratic Party, he was the U.S. representative for Maryland's 3rd congressional district from 1987 to 2007.

Ben Cardins Großvater Harris Kardonsky wanderte im Jahr 1905 mit seiner Frau Anna aus der Westukraine in die USA aus.[1] Cardin studierte an der University of Pittsburgh und der University of Maryland in Baltimore. Danach war er als Rechtsanwalt tätig.
