Elisha M. Pease, 1853–1857. Pease studied in Massachusetts before leaving for Texas in early 1835. After settling in Mina, he fought in the battle of Gonzales and helped write the Constitution of the Republic of Texas at Washington-on-the-Brazos.
3. Jan. 2019 · He was chief clerk of the Texas Navy in 1836 and 1837, practiced law in Brazoria from 1837 to 1846, and served in the Texas Legislature from 1846 to 1850. He won the gubernatorial election three years after leaving the legislature.
