Rođen je 20. srpnja 1947. u Gornjem Kozarcu nedaleko Gvozda. Otac Dragan i majka Evica bavili su se poljoprivredom. Mile je bio drugo od petero djece. Nakon osnovne škole otišao je u Borovo gdje je pohađao srednju školu.
