Matsie Angelina "Angie" Motshekga (born 19 June 1955) is a South African politician and educator, serving as the Minister of Basic Education since May 2009. She was also appointed an acting president of the Republic of South Africa on 2 July 2021, as President Cyril Ramaphosa attended the state funeral of Kenneth Kaunda in Zambia . [1]
Angelina Matsie Motshekga was born in Pimville, Soweto, where she first became very active in various capacities in the struggle against apartheid. She holds a BA Education, B Ed from the University of the North and a Masters Degree in Education from the Wits University.
