Simon Denis Poisson (1781- 1840) französischer Physiker und Mathematiker. Poisson, Siméon Denis wurde am 21.6.1781 in Pithiviers (Loiret) geboren, und starb am 25.4.1840 in Paris. Da Poisson nach dem Willen seines Vaters Arzt werden sollte wurde er nach der väterlichen Ausbildung zu seinem Onkel geschickt.
