Pieter Lastman (* um 1583 in Amsterdam; † 4. April 1633 ebenda) war ein niederländischer Historienmaler des frühen Barock. Er war der Sohn des wohlhabenden Stadtboten und Vermögensverwalters Pieter Segerszoon.
Pieter Lastman (1583–1633) was a Dutch painter. Lastman is considered important because of his work as a painter of history pieces and because his pupils included Rembrandt and Jan Lievens . [2] In his paintings Lastman paid careful attention to the faces, hands and feet.

Pieter Lastman (born 1583, Amsterdam—buried April 4, 1633, Amsterdam, Neth.) was a Dutch painter of biblical and mythological scenes in antique landscapes who had a strong influence on the young Rembrandt, who worked in his Amsterdam studio in 1624.

Pieter Lastman. Pieter Lastman (1583-1633) spent his early years as an artist in Italy. Biographer Karel van Mander mentions the fact in his Schilderboeck (Book of Painters) of 1604. When he returned to Amsterdam in 1607, Lastman was hailed as a connoisseur of Italian art.
Pieter Lastman was the pre-eminent history painter of his generation in the Northern Netherlands. Born in Amsterdam to Catholic parents, Lastman trained with the painter Gerrit Pietersz and from 1602 spent several years in Italy. In Rome he became friends with Adam Elsheimer and Peter Paul Rubens.
