John Frederick Miller (active 1772–1796) was an English illustrator, mainly of botanical subjects. Miller was the son of the artist Johann Sebastian Müller (1715 – c. 1790). Miller, along with his brother James, [1] produced paintings from the sketches made by Sydney Parkinson on James Cook 's first voyage. [2]
Description. Perhaps through the influence of his father, the botanical artist John Sebastian Miller (1715–92) (born Johan Sebastian Müller), from 1772 John Frederick Miller was one of the favoured natural history illustrators of Sir Joseph Banks (1743–1820).

Cimelia physica is a collection of 60 natural history illustrations by John Frederick Miller with descriptive text by George Shaw. Published in 1796 by the great natural history publishers of the late eighteenth century, Benjamin and John White, the book was a retitled second edition of Miller’s 1776-85 work Icones Animalium et Plantarum.
