Oliver Joseph St. John Gogarty (17 August 1878 – 22 September 1957) was an Irish poet, author, otolaryngologist, athlete, politician, and conversationalist. He served as the inspiration for Buck Mulligan in James Joyce's novel Ulysses.

Oliver St. John Gogarty [gō'gurtē] ( irisch Oiliféir Mag Fhógartaigh; * 17. August 1878 in Dublin, Irland; † 22. September 1957 in New York City) war ein irischer Schriftsteller. Zudem war er Angehöriger der Schickeria, Arzt, Pilot und Sportsmann und von 1922 bis 1936 Senator im irischen Parlament.

As a student, Oliver Gogarty was an excellent cricket and football player and above all a superb swimmer. He supported a so-called Secure House during the Irish War of Independence for freedom activists and fighters as well as for escaped or released convicts.
