Dryden’s affirmations notwithstanding, their popularity quickly faded thereafter, and Beaumont and Fletcher have been in near oblivion for centuries.
Beaumont starb 1616 und wurde in der Westminster Abbey in London beigesetzt. Born in 1584, the son of judge Sir Francis Beaumont. He was born on the family's ancestral home, Grace Dieu in Leicestershire, and went to Oxford at the age of 13, where he studied at Broadgates Hall (now Pembroke College).
