Their collaboration led to seven US No. 1 albums, and established John as one of the most successful singles artists of the 1970s.
With Partridge becoming so desperate to record Nonsuch that he "would have done it with the window cleaner," eccentric English producer Gus Dudgeon was the band's final choice, having been enticed by his work with the Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band.
