Geek the Girl is the third studio album by American singer-songwriter Lisa Germano. A breakthrough of sorts for her, it was released on October 25, 1994 by 4AD, just six months after the re-release of her previous album, Happiness .
Lisa Ruth Germano (born June 27, 1958) is an American singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist from Indiana. Her album Geek the Girl (1994) was chosen as a top album of the 1990s by Spin magazine. She began her career as a violinist for John Mellencamp. As of 2018, she has released thirteen albums.
We feel intensely the energy and angst she directs at a world which bypasses simple communication and ignores the plight of animals. Her new album, ‘No Elephants’ (Badman Recording Co.), includes ‘Dance of the Bees’ an instrumental, the fragile, lilting ‘And So On’ and other songs, which require the listener’s complete attention.

31. Okt. 1994 · The eerie guitar parts filtered through icy effects in “Cry Wolf” perfectly accompany Germano’s wounded and fragile vocals. Similarly, “Sexy Little Girl Princess” works in lilting six-string ambience, which subtly accentuates lyrics about the darker side of growing up too fast with a trembling subtlety and restraint.
