In the Beginning is a double album by flutist Hubert Laws released on the CTI and recorded at Rudy Van Gelder 's studio in 1974. [1] The album was later reissued on CTI as two separate volumes entitled Then There Was Light.
Hubert's brother Ronnie supplies a serpentine tenor-sax solo which conjures up Coltrane's style. Bob James' electric piano solo is equally adventurous. The last two tracks are the longest on the CD, clocking in at 10 and 15 minutes respectively. Reconciliation includes attractive
