25. März 2010 · "I recommend nobody have a check card, as they are easily duplicated" Much much rarer (as is the English subjunctive in the first place), and a bit forced even in my example, but certainly possible. In normal indicative speech, "nobody" is a singular 3rd person, so it is "has" expect under special conditions, which do exist.
17. Jan. 2014 · It is not uncommon to hear "I'm nobody," in everyday speech, where it often serves as a kind of disclaimer: "I'm nobody; but, in my opinion, this painting is awful." As Paula pointed out, it would be rude and cruel indeed to say, "You're nobody!" Calling yourself a nobody, on the other hand, is socially acceptable, especially, unfortunately ...
25. Jan. 2007 · This is an original sentence: “Nobody can deny that she has a beautiful voice.”. I will change it to other sentences which begins with “it”. Here is my try: 1.“It is undeniable that she has a beautiful voice.”. 2.“It is true that she has a beautiful voice.”. 3.“It is sure that she has a beautiful voice.”.
27. Okt. 2016 · I disagree with e2efour here - I don't think "don't anybody move" is good English. For me the negative form of "anybody move" is "nobody move". You wouldn't say "Don't somebody open the door", to take another example. Whether or not it is technically grammatically correct, I don't think anyone disputes the original reply to your question that ...
7. Aug. 2006 · English, UK. Aug 6, 2006. #3. This is one of the peculiarities of English! Although "nobody" sounds singular, in the context the meaning is that no persons need to call (not that one particular person does not need to call) So, in this case, "nobody" can be considered plural. We could also say "no-one", and this also means "no persons", not one ...
10. Apr. 2018 · I would like to reword this sentence, I'm not sure which would be correct 1. Nothing was said by anyone. 2. Nothing was said by nobody. Maybe neither is correct, I came up with these by myself. Could you tell me if they are correct?
25. Sept. 2017 · Sep 25, 2017. #1. Hello. I've encountered the saying "If momma ain't happy, ain't nobody happy" and it seems that it is quite widespread. Articles on the internet were trying to explain the expression as "if momma is not happy then nobody in the house will be happy as mothers set the tone in the house so if a relentlessly tired mom is a cranky ...
6. Feb. 2013 · I don't think the "they" is for gender equality, but due to count. The alternative to "nobody" is possibly "many people." A: "Nobody else has been told John is coming, has he?" B: "Peter, Tom, and Bob have all been told." A: "Nobody else has been told John is coming, have they?" B: "Peter, Tom, and Bob have all been told."
梗图里的“没有人:”到底指的是什么?. 一直看到有这种外国梗图,但说实话怎么也都搞不清楚那个nobody的意义所在,是不是我自己有点大问题?. [图片] 显示全部 . 关注者. 2. 被浏览.
17. Apr. 2008 · Apr 17, 2008. #2. 'take it seriously' is the correct phrase in BE because seriously is an adverb, while serious is an adjective (and in this case the word describes the actions of the verb take, so we need an adverb). However, I think in AE, they may consider serious to be an adverb. I know there are several American phrases in which they use ...
