That being said, a <br> generates a line-break and it is only a line-break. As this element has no content, there are only few styles that make sense to apply on it, like clear or position.
<br></br> is also allowed, but unusual (there are backwards-compatibility issues, it's extra typing, and allows for bugs if you introduce more content between the tags by mistake, but it does sometimes happen in XML-programattically produced code).
You should use <p> when you want to separate two paragraphs. If in case you are trying to replace the /n of a string to </br>, i am speculating that you want to parse line break in HTML view. word-break: break-all, white-space: pre-wrap; Adding these to styles to parent div/container of the text will solve your problem without any string manipulations.
