In 1822, he was appointed senior director of the Bank of New South Wales and chairman of the first chamber of commerce. He was appointed Justice of the Peace in 1824. Death and legacy. Edward Wollstonecraft suffered ill health and died on 7 December 1832, aged 49. He was buried in the Sydney Burial Ground in Elizabeth Street.
They are interred in an unusual, pyramid-shaped tomb with his wife's brother, Edward Wollstonecraft, former owner of Crows Nest Farm, after which the area is named. George Barney (lieutenant colonel) was born in London in 1792, and arrived in Sydney in 1835.
Waverton was part of the land grant, which encompassed 524 acres of Wollstonecraft and part of Crows Nest. In the 19th century Edward Wollstonecraft , who was a business partner of Alexander Berry , settled on the north side of the harbour to escape the unhealthy living conditions of the lower George Street in Sydney.
