Graham Thomas Parker (born 18 November 1950) is an English singer-songwriter, who is best known as the lead singer of the British band Graham Parker & the Rumour. [1] Life and career. Early career (1960s–1976) Parker was born in Hackney, East London, in 1950. He was a pupil at Chobham Secondary Modern School in Surrey.
A brief biography of Graham Parker. In the spring of 1975, Graham Parker, a 24-year-old petrol pump attendant from Surrey, England, began to drive up to London to meet like-minded musicians and get a backing band behind his songs, which he now considered to be stronger and more interesting than anything he was hearing on the radio.
This is an entirely different recording from the CD that is currently available and has been out of print for 30 years. It not only features three different songs, but it was recorded at a different time and place and has a radically different feel to it. In our opinion, it is superior to the original. Biography. For over 30 years, Graham Parker has been slinging a signature sound across continents and airwaves that has rightly earned him a spot in the pantheon of truly original and influential figures in rock and roll.
Parker was born to a working class family in Deepcut, some 30 miles outside London, in 1950. By age 17 he had encountered both the exhilaration of soul and reggae and the torpor and inequality of working life; both would fuel the songwriter's unique mixture of rage and hope.
