Donna McKechnie (born November 16, 1942) is an American musical theater dancer, singer, actress, and choreographer. She is known for her professional and personal relationship with choreographer Michael Bennett , with whom she collaborated on her most noted role, the character of Cassie in the musical A Chorus Line .
Donna McKechnie, who received a Best Actress Tony Award for her performance in A CHORUS LINE, is regarded internationally as one of Broadway’s foremost singing and dancing leading ladies, having starred in and also choreographed numerous musical theatrical productions in London's West End, Paris and Tokyo.

Though she wanted to be a ballerina, Donna McKechnie first became involved in musical theater playing summer stock in Framingham, Massachusetts in the late 1950s. After joining the touring production of West Side Story, McKechnie made her Broadway debut as a dancer in Frank Loesser’s How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying in 1961.
