Die beiden dusteren Antipoden 'Inquisition Symphony' (Ein beklemmendes Vibrato führt zum frenetischen Finale) und 'Fade To Black' (durchweg ruhig und dann ganz sachte sein Leben aushauchend) brauche ich wohl niemandem mehr vorzustellen; ihre klassische Umsetzung ist schlichtweg atemberaubend.

In the end, Apocalyptica's Inquisition Symphony is a step in the right direction for the band as it combines diversified cover songs with three solid own compositions. The record is timeless and has aged very well as it combines classical instruments from the past with contemporary metal tendencies in an efficient way.
Man könnte da fast von einem Einzelstück sprechen, das sich Mitte der 90er in Helsinki formiert und wenig später mit "Inquisition Symphony" einen eindrucksvollen Höhepunkt erlebt hat. Da es sich dabei aber um die zweite LP von Apocalyptica handelt, sei noch einmal ein kurzer Blick zurück erlaubt.

Whereas the first album focused solely on Metallica and had very noticeable mixing issues, their second project, Inquisition Symphony, delves into Sepultura, Pantera, Faith No More (surprisingly) and *only* four Metallica covers.
