17. März 2022 · Formed in 1987 in Anaheim, the band were hatched by three colleagues working at the local Dairy Queen together: ska-obsessed sibling duo Eric and Gwen Stefani, and John Spence, a black punk rocker who adored Bad Brains.

Eric Stefani (born June 17, 1967 Fullerton, California) is an American pop musician, former Simpsons animator, and Grammy-nominated composer and writer. Through all the success, the band members have remained grounded by a long-standing friendship that began when Stefani, guitarist Tom Dumont, bassist Tony Kanal, and drummer Adrian Young — bonded by a shared love of ’80s British New Wave and ska bands — began performing together in their hometown of Anaheim, CA.
