25. Okt. 2014 · LeRoy Crume died Monday October 20th at his niece’s home in Michigan City, IN. Born in Swift, MO on June 20th, 1933, LeRoy had 7 brothers and 2 sisters.
The Soul Stirrers were an American gospel music group, whose career spans over eighty years. [1] The group was a pioneer in the development of the quartet style of gospel, and a major influence on Soul, Doo wop, and the Motown sound, some of the secular music that owed much to gospel.
23. Okt. 2014 · The Journal of Gospel Music is saddened to learn of the passing of LeRoy Crume. LeRoy was a member of Chicago's Crume Brothers and the Soul Stirrers. The Crume Brothers are credited for introducing the electric guitar into quartet music and many were members of the Soul.
