Marvin Jerome Yancy (May 31, 1950 – March 22, 1985) was an American gospel musician, pastor and Grammy-winning record producer, and former pastor of Fountain of Life Baptist Church. He started his music career, in 1971, with The Independents, who were an American R&B vocal group.

Marvin Yancy. A Chicago based producer, songwriter and musician who married Natalie Cole (daughter of Nat King Cole) in 1976, fathered a son with her then divorced. Yancy then pastored his late father's church and recorded a handful of gospel albums, until 1985 when he suffered a fatal heart attack at age 34.
