Richard James Hite (* 18. Mai 1951 in Los Angeles, Kalifornien; † 17. September 2001 in Memphis, Tennessee) war ein amerikanischer Bluesmusiker und Bruder des Canned-Heat-Gründers und der Blueslegende Bob Hite. Er selbst war auch zeitweise Mitglied von Canned Heat.

19. Okt. 2018 · The final indignity came when Hite’s brother Richard, who played bass with the band in the 70s, sold off the remnants of The Bear’s record collection to finance his own habit, just months after his death.
In 1973 the line-up expanded, included Hite, Vestine and De la Parra alongside James Shane on rhythm guitar and vocals, Ed Beyer on keyboards, and Hite’s brother Richard on bass. After a change in management in 1974, Vestine, James Shane and Ed Beyer quit the band. [2]
