Branford Marsalis (born August 26, 1960) is an American saxophonist, composer, and bandleader. While primarily known for his work in jazz as the leader of the Branford Marsalis Quartet, he also performs frequently as a soloist with classical ensembles and has led the group Buckshot LeFonque .
Leben. Wynton Marsalis wurde als zweiter der sechs Söhne des Jazzpianisten Ellis Marsalis und dessen Frau Dolores geboren. Sein älterer Bruder ist der Jazz-Saxophonist Branford Marsalis. Auch die beiden jüngeren Brüder Delfeayo (Posaune) und Jason (Schlagzeug) wurden Jazz-Musiker. Wynton begann das Trompetenspiel mit 12 Jahren.
