Musical Youth are a British reggae band formed in 1979 in Birmingham, England. They are best remembered for their 1982 single " Pass the Dutchie ", which was a number 1 in multiple charts around the world.
"Pass the Dutchie" is a 1982 song performed by British-Jamaican band Musical Youth, taken from their debut studio album, The Youth of Today. It was produced by Toney Owens from Kingston, Jamaica. The song was a major hit, reaching number one on the UK Singles Chart, and at least five other countries.
Born Martin Glover, Youth is a multi award winning, legendary music producer, fine artist, songwriter, remixer and bass player of the seminal post-punk band Killing Joke. With a staggering 20 million records sold worldwide, Youth’s career spans over three decades and shows no sign of slowing down.

Formed in Birmingham in the early 1980s by Freddie Waite (2), formerly of The Techniques as his backing band, Musical Youth could genuinely play and worked in Birmingham pubs (guitarist Kelvin Waite debuting at the age of 7!) before being signed by MCA in 1982.
