She lived in Seattle for four years (1948-1952) eventually meeting her husband Kenneth Golden on a blind date. They were married on June 15, 1952 and moved to Portland, Oregon shortly thereafter.
Brosnihan and Golden fell in love and were married in August 1997. Golden died in August 2001, from the cancer at the age of 38. Following her death, Golden would inspire a race series called the "Diana Golden Race Series", hosted by Disabled Sports USA, at mountains which offer programs that teach the physically disabled how to ski.

Diana died on August 26, 2001 after a courageous battle with cancer. Her husband Steve Brosnihan, family and friends were at her side. Diana Golden Brosnihan was the first disabled skier to be inducted into the U.S. National Ski Hall of Fame.
