Martha Emily Davis (born January 19, 1951) is an American rock and new wave singer-songwriter from Berkeley, California. She is most famous for being the lead singer of the band The Motels, but has also made several solo albums, contributed many songs to motion pictures, been on television, and worked onstage with Teatro ZinZanni.

BIOGRAPHY | themotels. In 1971, a young Martha Davis joined The Warfield Foxes, a band from Berkeley California. In 1975 they moved to Los Angeles and changed the band name to The Motels. The new name was inspired on the way to the band’s first show at Barney’s Beanery.
Davis describes this newest album to be more “musical” and “more polished”. This weekend, Martha Davis & The Motels are playing their famous hits and new songs from their upcoming album in Southern California at The Rose on Friday, October 20 and then playing at The Canyon on Sunday, Ocotber 22.
