Life and career. Edelman was born on 10 June 1947 in Paterson, New Jersey, [1] to a Jewish family. [2] [3] He was raised in Teaneck, New Jersey, the son of a first-grade teacher and an accountant, and graduated from Teaneck High School in 1965.
