Atmospheric Drum and Bass (oder Ambient Drum and Bass/Intelligent Drum and Bass) war eine ruhigere Variante, in der flächige Pad-Sounds mit für Drum and Bass relativ langsamen Beats (140–160 bpm) und Ethno-Elementen kombiniert wurden und so eine hypnotische, Trance-artige Stimmung schufen.
